Mr. Jacob Saumure
LL.L. LL.M./M2 - Law student
Jacob Saumure joined our team in January 2026 as a law student and will begin his articling in May 2026.
A graduate of the University of Ottawa, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil law as well as a dual master’s degree in advanced civil law (Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3) and legal culture, Jacob leaves school with a strong interest in issues related to dignity, health, and human rights. His master’s thesis, “Signing the End Before It’s Too Late: Converging Interests and Advance Requests for Medical Assistance in Dying,” reflects this sensitivity and his commitment to contributing to the evolution of health practices and policies.
Throughout his academic career, he was actively involved in legal research at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, participating in projects focusing on end-of-life care, mental health, access to justice, Indigenous health, and human rights. He also gained experience in public policy within the federal government, working on issues related to health and public services.
Driven by a deep desire to put the law at the service of people, Jacob has also been involved in various volunteer initiatives and partnerships with stakeholders in the health and social services sector. His empathy, thoroughness, and ability to listen guide his approach, which focuses on defending the rights and dignity of healthcare system users.
